One perspective, from someone involved in Greek life, placed Texas Tech's sororities with a subjective ranking of 32 out of all chapters nationwide. The financial aspect of sorority life is also an important consideration. The primary recruitment process at Texas Tech involves a $150 fee. It is crucial to note that registering for recruitment through an area alumnae Panhellenic association does not automatically register you for recruitment at Texas Tech University. A separate registration process through the university is required.

The Texas Tech Interfraternity Council (IFC) comprises 21 men's organizations, governed by an executive council made up of representatives from different fraternities. The IFC works to promote brotherhood, leadership, and community service among its member fraternities. It also serves as a liaison between the fraternities and the university administration.

Kappa Beta chapter of Alpha Xi Delta welcomed into the Texas Tech family, being officially installed on February 21, 2016. This chapter continues to grow and support members.

The sisters of Alpha Xi Delta at Texas Tech uphold four core values: sisterhood, leadership, knowledge, and service. These values guide their actions and shape their experiences within the sorority. Through various activities and initiatives, the sisters strive to embody these values and make a positive impact on the university and the surrounding community.

Chapters utilize member dues to fund a variety of activities, including social events, member development programs, and academic workshops. These dues contribute to the overall sorority experience, providing members with opportunities for personal growth, academic support, and social engagement. Each woman who joins a Panhellenic sorority is responsible for determining the best way to manage and pay her dues.

The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) at Texas Tech University serves as the governing body for all officially recognized multicultural fraternities and sororities on campus. The MGC encompasses 12 fraternities and sororities, with nine executive board members overseeing its operations. This council promotes cultural awareness, diversity, and inclusivity within the Greek community.

For members of Delta Gamma's Gamma Xi chapter at Texas Tech University, membership offers countless memories and experiences that will shape their lives for years to come. An older article stated that Kappa, Pi Phi, and Theta were considered the top 3 sororities at Tech at that time. These rankings may shift and change over time based on a variety of factors.

Other organizations at Texas Tech include Alpha Phi, located at 1 Greek Circle, Lubbock, TX, and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, founded in 1868. The Epsilon Gamma chapter at Texas Tech University was established in 1953 and has strived to turn members into scholars, leaders, athletes, and gentlemen. Zeta Phi Gamma sorority was also founded at Texas Tech.

Timeline events include: in 1996 Texas Tech joined the Big 12 conference; in August 1997, Pi Kappa Phi was colonized; in 1998 the honors college was established at Texas Tech; and the Multicultural Greek Council was formally established at Texas Tech by Kappa Delta Chi, Omega Delta.
